Booking a train ticket in Egypt is available through 5 methods: ENR website, station counters, self-service machines (TVM), Fawry outlets, and hotline 1661. Cancellation is only available for online bookings before departure.

Available booking methods:

• Online — via the ENR website enr.gov.eg/ticketing or the ENR mobile app: register, choose your trip and seat, pay by card, and save your e-ticket.
• Ticket counters — available at all stations for every train type, cash accepted.
• Self-service machines (TVM) — at major stations like Ramses, Alexandria, and Giza.
• Fawry outlets — found across all governorates, get a printed ticket instantly.
• Hotline 1661 — for inquiries and booking.

Cancellation & refunds:

• Online bookings only can be cancelled and refunded based on cancellation timing before departure — the earlier you cancel, the lower the fee deducted.
• If you miss your train, your ticket is automatically voided — no refund or transfer to another train.

Discounted train tickets in Egypt are available for seniors, people with disabilities, cancer patients, and children under 12 — exclusively at station ticket counters with official ID.

Egyptian National Railways offers discounts for specific groups when booking at station ticket counters with official documentation:

• Seniors (over 60) — discounted fare.
• People with disabilities & their companions — discounted fare with disability card.
• Cancer patients & their companions — free tickets with hospital referral letter.
• Children under 12 — half-price ticket.

• Book in advance: Talgo, VIP, and Sleeper trains — limited seats that sell out fast, especially during Eid, public holidays, and tourist seasons.
• Same-day purchase usually fine: Air-conditioned trains (Spanish, Russian AC) — but arrive early during peak hours.
• No advance booking needed: Tahya Misr and economy third-class trains — buy anytime.

Tip: During Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, and official holidays, book at least a week ahead for any train type to guarantee your seat.
