Cairo, Egypt - The Egyptian National Railways has announced the start of winter time across the country, effective from midnight on Thursday, October 30, 2025. Clocks will be set back by 60 minutes, meaning that at 00:00 (midnight), the time will become 23:00 (11:00 PM) on the same day.
This change is in accordance with Law No. 24 of 2023 regarding the daylight saving time system, which aims to rationalize energy consumption.
Impact of Winter Time on Train Schedules:
To clarify the changes to train schedules, the Railway Authority has stated the following:
- Trains departing between 23:00 and 23:59 (according to the old summer time): These will be considered as having an early departure according to the new winter time.
- Trains in transit during the time change: These will continue their journey normally without any alteration to their route or stations as per their approved schedules.
- All train journeys commencing after 00:00 (midnight): These will operate according to the new official winter time.
The authority urges passengers to take note of the new timing and make the necessary arrangements to align with their scheduled travel plans.
