Officially: delays in train schedules after speeds were reduced due to high temperatures

The Egyptian National Railway Authority announced the implementation of a temporary reduction in train speeds on a number of Lower and Lower Egypt lines, coinciding with the wave of relative rise in temperatures that the country is witnessing during the current period.

The authority confirmed that the decision comes as a precautionary measure aimed at maintaining the security and safety of passengers and ensuring efficient operation on various railway lines, especially with the impact of high temperatures on the rails and some operating components.

A precautionary measure to maintain safety

The Authority explained that the speed reduction is in accordance with the technical safety standards approved within the railway system, in order to avoid any effects that may result from high temperatures during peak hours.

She added that this measure is temporary and will be implemented until weather conditions improve and temperatures return to normal levels.

Return to normal speeds as soon as the weather improves

The Egyptian National Railways Authority confirmed that train movement continues normally on all lines, with operation being monitored in real time to ensure the regularity of trips and reduce any potential impacts on travel movement.

The authority indicated that speeds will gradually return to their usual rates as soon as temperatures drop and weather conditions improve.

Apologies to passengers for possible delays

The Authority apologized to passengers for any delays that may occur to some flights as a result of implementing safety procedures, stressing that the safety of passengers and ensuring operational traffic always come at the top of its priorities.
