The Egyptian National Railway Authority announced the operation of a large number of additional trains on the occasion of Eid al-Adha 2026, in order to facilitate travel for citizens and reduce crowding during the Eid season, especially on the lines of Upper Egypt and Upper Egypt governorates.
The Authority confirmed that the operation of the additional trains comes in implementation of the directives of Engineer Mohamed Amer, Chairman of the Egyptian National Railway Authority, within an intensive operating plan that will last from May 21, 2026 until June 7, 2026.
Operating additional Talgo trains during Eid Al Adha
The authority decided to operate additional Talgo trains between Cairo and Aswan daily during the Eid period, and the timings were as follows:
Train 2040 Talgo Cairo/Aswan runs daily from May 21 to June 6, 2026, departing from Cairo at 8:20 pm and arriving in Aswan at 8:10 am.
Train 2041 Talgo Aswan/Cairo runs daily from May 22 to June 7, 2026, departing from Aswan at 7:20 pm and arriving in Cairo at 7:15 am.
Additional air-conditioned trains between Cairo and Aswan
The Authority also announced the operation of a group of additional air-conditioned trains to provide more seats for passengers during the Eid Al-Adha season:
Train 1938, air-conditioned Cairo/Aswan, daily from May 21 until June 6.
Train 1939, air-conditioned Aswan/Cairo daily from May 22nd until June 7th.
Air-conditioned train 1930 Cairo/Aswan on May 21 and 23 only.
Train 1931, air-conditioned Aswan/Cairo, on May 22 and 24 only.
Train 1936, air-conditioned Alexandria/Aswan, on May 25 only.
Train 1937, air-conditioned Aswan/Cairo on May 26 only.
Operating additional third air-conditioned trains
As part of the plan to ease congestion, the authority also decided to operate three additional air-conditioned trains on the Cairo-Aswan line:
Train 1948, third air-conditioned Cairo/Aswan daily.
Train 1949, third air-conditioned Aswan/Cairo daily.
Train 1942, third air-conditioned Cairo/Aswan daily.
Train 1943, third air-conditioned Aswan/Cairo daily.
Special trains for the Nubian clubs and the Egyptian Federation
The authority announced the operation of a number of special trains to serve the Nubian Clubs, the Specific Union, and the Al-Jaafra Club in Alexandria during the Eid period, in order to facilitate the transportation of citizens to the southern and Aswan governorates.
The plan included operating special trains from Cairo and Alexandria to Aswan and vice versa on specific dates during the end of May and the beginning of June 2026.
