For Upper Egypt passengers: additional trains to Aswan and adjustments to the timings and stops of VIP and sleeper trains
Train 986 stops at Sidfa station
The stopping of train 986 (Cairo / Luxor) at Sidfa station officially begins on April 20, 2026, in implementation of the decision of the Egyptian National Railway Authority. This decision serves Spanish first and second class air-conditioned passengers, as the train will stop at Sidfa station with its usual operating schedule to facilitate transportation for the public in the centers of Assiut Governorate.
Operating special Russian air-conditioned trains to serve Aswan passengers
Operating special Russian trains (air-conditioned third class) comes as part of the authority’s plan to provide comfort for travelers to Upper Egypt in April 2026. These additional trips serve the (Cairo / Aswan / High Dam) line, where a one-way trip on April 11 and a return trip on April 12 have been allocated to meet the needs of travelers.
Special train No. 1940: departs from Cairo Station at 11:00 a.m. on April 11, 2026, and arrives at the High Dam Station at 23:40 p.m.
Special train No. 1945: departs from Aswan station at 11:30 am on April 12, 2026, and arrives at Cairo station at 12:10 am.

Modification of stopping stations for trains 1092 and 1091 (VIP and sleeper)
The stop adjustment for trains 1092 and 1091 includes the addition of new stations in Upper Egypt starting April 8, 2026. How to book tickets for the new Upper Egypt trains?
The best way to book train tickets is to use the official Egypt Railways app or go to the ticket windows at the main stations. The authority also provides self-reservation machines (TVM) to avoid crowding, and it is recommended to book in advance for special train trips (1940 and 1945) as they will operate for only one day in the 2026 upgrades.
What's next?
The Egyptian National Railway Authority continues to monitor daily operations to ensure regular appointments. Additional additional flights are expected to be announced during the holiday seasons, so it is recommended to follow periodic updates through the official platforms to know about any sudden changes in operating schedules.
