Operating additional trains during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday
The Egyptian National Railway Authority announced the operation of a number of additional trains during the Eid al-Fitr period, in order to facilitate travel for passengers during the period from March 15 to 29, 2026.
Additional trains (Cairo ⇄ Aswan)
Starting March 15, 2026:
Train 2040 Talgo Cairo → Aswan (18:30 – 06:30 the next morning)
Train 1938, air-conditioned Cairo → Aswan (22:50 – 10:35 the next morning)
Train 1948, third air-conditioned Cairo → Aswan (00:35 – 12:30)
Starting March 16, 2026:
Train 2041 Talgo Aswan → Cairo (19:20 – 07:15 the next morning)
Train 1939, air-conditioned, Aswan → Cairo (21:30 – 09:20 the next morning)
Train 1947, third air-conditioned Aswan → Cairo (22:30 – 11:15)

These trains return to operation the next day according to their usual schedules.
Restart of Talgo trains
As of March 26, 2026, the 2026 and 2027 trains between Cairo and Alexandria and vice versa will be restarted according to the usual schedules.
